At Story Sessions we believe that how we choose to live together as citizens determines the story that we will write together. We seek to bring together all who seek to be active participants in the writing of a meaningful city story, no matter your background, race, gender, age or beliefs. We are building each of our sessions around key themes and interesting stories. Together, through stories, questions and conversation, we are exploring new language, mindsets and world views as we re-imagine new ways of doing life together in our city.
Our theme for this session?
Story Sessions “Homeless 101” is an invitation for us as people who live in this city to come together and learn about homelessness as an important part of our collective story (‘101’ describes the starting point for learning). Raymond Perrier, a previous guest on Story Sessions and director of the Denis Hurley Centre, will interview members of the homeless community in our city and help us understand homelessness. The evening will include a special exhibition of photographs and stories by young inspiring photographer Obakeng Molepe and meticulous copywriter Sithembiso Shoba. Are you willing to step beyond yourself and the stories of your own social circles to encounter and listen to the stories of homeless people as human beings, agents and co-citizens of our city? Join us on the 3rd of September at Community ZA as we come together for this important storytelling event.
Our venue for this event will be Community ZA in Millar Road, Durban.
Tickets are still free, but there is limited space so make sure you book yours on Quicket. Tickets will be available soon. You will need to provide your tickets or proof of payment on the evening.
Drinks and food will be on sale from 6:30pm.
The interview kicks off at 7:15pm.
We aim to finish around 8:30pm.
Hope to see you there!
