Get Ready For Gcina Mhlophe!

Written by on . Posted in Uncategorized

So, it’s all happening. People are talking, posters are being put up across this city’s cafes and information is being retweeted faster than a Hollywood marriage annulment.

It’s the first STORY Sessions event for 2012 and as you know we are very honoured to have internationally renowned story-teller Gcina Mhlophe grace us with her heartfelt words.

This is going to be a big one: spread the word, bring your friends and make an evening out of it, at what is most likely the city’s most unique setting for a theatre.

If you’re not sure who Gcina Mhlophe is or you’re not exactly entrenched in the culture of story-telling, don’t worry! Everything you need to know about Gcina is on this post. Story-telling has a deep and vital role in this beautiful country in which we live, often overlooked or simply ignored by the city-slicker. The 15th of Feb is your night to do some catch-up homework.

Gcina Mhlophe has the ability to take you back to a time where we listened more than we spoke. She reminds us that the power in words can be strong enough to drive an army, or gentle enough to bring peace. That a story can bring hope, ideas, build trust… and more importantly, that it is the wise and careful sculpting of a story that can teach us about ourselves, shining light onto our blindspots that are easily hidden by the chaotic noise of the urban life.

15 February at The Stables Theatre. Be there.

Follow this link to the Facebook event , tell us you’re coming and stay up-to-date with all the info. While you’re at it, invite all your mates. There’s always room for one more.

See you there.
